Cosworth close to sale, Jaguar face nervous wait

Jaguar future to be decided this week

THE FATE OF COSWORTH

OWRS principal Kevin Kalkhoven is in serious negotiations with Ford to purchase Cosworth but no deal has been struck.

Kalkhoven recently traveled to Cosworth's headquarters in Northhampton, England, where there are some 500 employees, and also made a visit to Cosworth's factory in Torrance, Calif.

Champ Car owns all the turbocharged Ford/Cosworth engines it races but Cosworth supplies the technical support at the track, as well as handling rebuilds. Cosworth also provides power to the F1 teams of Jordan and Minardi, in addition to the ProRally series and farms out its normally aspirated motor to General Motors in the Indy Racing League.

It's not known whether Kalkhoven is interested in buying the North American properties or all of Cosworth and he's currenlt traveling out of the country.

Team Jaguar on brink as 350 face dole

Friday October 29, 2004

It is understood that the new offer from Mansell's consortium also includes a bid for Cosworth, which builds the Jaguar V10 engines, and its associated company Pi electronics. Earlier bids from Red Bull and a consortium of Chinese investors failed to reach successful conclusions thanks to what some believe is Ford's hands-off attitude to the future of the team. The team has had up to eight expressions of interest from potential buyers but none has yet come to fruition.

Red Bull in bid to buy Jaguar Racing

November 3 2004

Ford has indicated to Red Bull that it has another bidder interested in a purchase, an unidentified group said to be seeking to buy both Jaguar Racing and Cosworth Racing, Ford's competition engines subsidiary, which is also up for sale.

But Dietrich Mateschitz, Red Bull's founder and chairman, is understood to be ready to call what Red Bull regards as Ford's bluff. People close to the sale admit that the other potential buyer has not yet demonstrated it has the financial backing for a deal

Red Bull on verge of Jaguar buy-out

Fredag 12november 2004

It is expected that the Northampton based engine specialist will be purchased by a consortium headed by the American millionaire Kevin Kalkhoven, the co-owner of the US Champcar series. The company will continue building formula one engines under the new regime.
